Originally established as a migratory bird refuge in 1932, Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, encompasses 66,000 acres of barrier islands, salt marshes, intricate coastal waterways, and long sandy beaches. In addition to the birds, there is abundant wildlife on the refuge.
