Fort Hays State Historic Site

With the fort active until 1889, the Fort Hays State Historic Site includes a visitor's center, the parade ground, and 4 of the historic buildings: 2 officers' quarters, the blockhouse, and the guardhouse. The exhibits describe the construction of the fort, as well as the conflict with the plains Indians.
