Indianapolis is renowned around the world to race enthusiasts as the home to the Indianapolis 500. The Speedway Museum, located right on the grounds of the race course, has been designated a National Historic Landmark. You'll find race cars from NASCAR, Formula One, motorcycle races, drag racing, and, of course, IndyCars. Visitors can take laps around the 2.5-mile track in a narrated bus tour every day but racing days, and grounds tours are available with 15- to 90-minute options. The facility is open daily, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Two gift shopes and a photography store are also available for visitors. Parking is free when not a race or event day. Tickets are available for the Indianapolis 500, with special additional events including Firestone Legends Day, the Indy 500 Snake Pit, and admission to practice and qualiying races. Camping is also available.
