You can enjoy hours of nature and outdoor recreation at the 6,300-acree wildlife refuge on Sanibel Island. Home to more than 200 species of birds, 50 types of reptiles, and 30 types of mammals, you’re bound to have a close encounter while walking or biking along the many paths and trails. Canoe trails wind through mangroves, and interpretative tram tours can be enjoyed through Tarpon Bay Explorers. Begin at the refuge’s Education Center to discover unique points of interest and visit the observation tower.
