Located in a volcanic crater known as 'The Punchbowl', the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is the resting place for the remains of 25 000 soldiers from WWII, the Korean and Vietnam wars. The cemetery also holds a monument to Hawaiian-born Challenger astronaut Ellison Onizuka.
