The 500,000-acre Pisgah National Forest was the first land purchased under the 1911 Weeks Act establishing National Forest, home to the first school of forestry, and home to two of the first designated wilderness areas in North Carolina. Visitors can hike, camp, fish, ride, hunt, and do water activities.
