In 1926, the government built the Turtle Flambeau Dam creating the 35,500-acre Turtle Flambeau Scenic Wilderness Waters Area. In the area, people can tube; water ski; canoe; kayak; fish for crappie, muskies, and small mouth bass; hunt for deer, bear, snowshoe hare, and turkey; and trap for mink and beaver.
